The Ohio City Singers „Love and Hope“
Die Ohio City Singers, die jedes Jahr zum Jahresende eine Reihe von energiegeladenen Shows mit Fans veranstalten, die den Großteil des 60 Lieder umfassenden Weihnachtskatalogs der Band mitsingen können, veröffentlichen ihr Debütalbum Love & Hope erstmals in Europa auf Hoboville Records. Die 9-köpfige Band, die aus einer All-Star-Besetzung von Rockern aus Cleveland, OHIO, besteht, wurde vor vielen Jahren aus einer Weihnachtsfeier heraus geboren und ist ein 9-köpfiges Kollektiv, das mit elektrischen und akustischen Gitarren, Mandolinen, Klavieren, Hackbrettern, Schlagzeug und Glocken bewaffnet ist. Es besteht aus: Chris Allen (Gesang, Gitarre, Mandoline), Austin Walkin‘ Cane (Gesang, Gitarre), Don Dixon (Gesang, Glockenspiel, Posaune), Doug McKean (Gesang, Klavier, Saxophon, Banjo), Kelly Wright (Gesang), Meredith Pangrace (Akkordeon), Matt Sobol (Gesang, 6- und 12-saitige Akustikgitarre), Brent Kirby (Gesang, Schlagzeug), und Dave Padrutt (Gesang, Bass).
Love & Hope wurde erstmals 2008 in den USA veröffentlicht und vom Bandmitglied und legendären Produzenten Don Dixon (REM, Smithereens, James McMurtry) produziert. Es enthält 15 Originalsongs, die den Geist der Jahreszeit einfangen. „Unsere Ästhetik ist immer noch der Klang von Liebe und Lachen, wenn eine Weihnachtsparty bis spät in die verschneite Nacht hinein aus dem Ruder läuft“, erklärt Sänger Chris Allen.
„Die Songs handeln von der Weihnachtszeit, aber die Energie dreht sich um die Weihnachtsparty“, stimmt Dixon zu und fügt hinzu: „Dies ist eine Indie-Rock-Band, deren einziger Grund für ihre Existenz die Feiertage sind, und ihre musikalische Anziehungskraft erstreckt sich über Generationen und spricht Kinder, Eltern und Großeltern an, die mit Springsteen, Dusty Springfield und den Dead aufgewachsen sind.“

With a series of annual high-energy end-of-year shows filled with fans who can belt out most of the band’s original 60-song holiday catalogue, The Ohio City Singers will be releasing their debut album Love & Hope in Europe for the first time on Hoboville Records. Comprised of an all-star cast of Cleveland, OHIO rockers, the 9-piece band was born out of a Christmas party many years ago and is a 9-piece collective armed with armed with electric and acoustic guitars, mandolins, pianos, dulcimers, drums and bells. It features: Chris Allen (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Austin Walkin’ Cane (vocals, guitar), Don Dixon (vocals, glockenspiel, trombone), Doug McKean (vocals, piano, saxophone, banjo), Kelly Wright (vocals), Meredith Pangrace (accordion), Matt Sobol (vocals, 6 and 12 string acoustic), Brent Kirby (vocals, drums), and Dave Padrutt (vocals, bass).
Love & Hope was first released in the US in 2008, and was produced by band member and legendary producer Don Dixon (REM, Smithereens, James McMurtry). It features 15 original songs that capture the spirit of the season. “Our aesthetic is still that sound of love and laughter when a Christmas party goes off rails late into a snowy night,” asserts singer Chris Allen.
”The songs are about the Christmas season but the energy is about the Christmas party,” agrees Dixon, adding, “This is an indie rock band whose sole reason for existence is the holidays and its musical appeal spans generations, resonating with children, parents and grandparents that grew up listening to Springsteen, Dusty Springfield and the Dead.”
